Meet your doula!
My name is Brooke (she/her) and I am the doula behind Beltane Birth Doula Services.
Supporting families through their fertility journeys, births, and early postpartum days is my dream job. As the eldest of four daughters with a mother who ran a successful day home for many years, I grew up surrounded by all things baby and was old enough to remember welcoming each of my siblings into the world. As a loss parent and someone who has been on a complex fertility journey of their own, I understand intimately how the journeys we take through our reproductive years can be some of the most challenging, transformative, and eye-opening of our lives. We were never meant to take these journeys alone. I believe each person navigating these moments in their lives deserves genuine support, true witnessing, and to feel held by peers who can uplift them.
Though I only officially started my doula career in 2024, I’ve been serving families in a professional capacity since 2010! I began as a neonatal intensive care (NICU) and pediatrics nurse in Alberta. I also obtained a degree in social work and a graduate degree in sociology, focusing on how we can use research to inform sensitive, compassionate, and social justice-focused care. Working as a doula allows me to bring my very favourite pieces of those roles together into something special and unique. Every story I get to be a part of is something I am deeply grateful for, and there’s no greater satisfaction than knowing you’ve supported someone through some of life’s most sacred moments.
I am currently certifying as a fertility support practitioner, birth doula, and postpartum doula through Doula Training Canada. I have completed all my training and am now gaining additional practical experience by working hands-on with clients. I am also passionate about continued and life-long education and am always taking workshops, listening to podcasts, and digging into the research so that I can bring you the best quality care possible.
About Beltane Birth
Vision Statement
At Beltane Birth, we provide holistic, full-spectrum doula care that sees the reproductive years as a sacred and powerful time. Our goal is to provide exceptional fertility, perinatal, and postpartum care that supports people with wombs to attune to their bodies, their spirits, and the earth. Our vision is a world in which all people are supported to be embodied, intuitive, and loving change makers for a better world.
Business Pillars
Body – Our mission is to tend to the bodies of life bringers. This includes a focus on reproductive justice and supporting bodily autonomy. We do this work by providing education about one’s health care options, supporting a focus on whole body health, and providing hands-on care throughout preconception, pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. We are strong advocates for equitable access to safe, effective, and suitable health care for all persons, which includes access to abortion services, conventional and holistic fertility care, midwifery model and specialist medical care for pregnancy and birth, and holistic postpartum follow-up care.
Spirit – We recognize that the reproductive years can be a sacred and transformational time. People’s journeys may involve the literal creation of new life, encounters with loss, and the transformation of identities and life courses in ways that can be deeply spiritually moving, regardless of one’s spiritual or religious beliefs. As such, we tend to the emotional and spiritual wellbeing of families and support the incorporation of ritual or other sacred practices into fertility, birth, and postpartum work.
Earth – At Beltane Birth, we see conception and birth as epitomizing our human connection to the lifeforce of the world around us. Conception and birth can be portals that attune us to our true nature as natural beings and can encourage a deeper connection with the natural world. As such, we seek to foster human-earth connections through the use of herbal medicine and body care, earth-based ritual, and sustainable parenting wherever possible.
